Reconnect your Xero integration

How to disconnect and reconnect Xero in Unleashed, re-export transactions, and fix common connection errors.

You can reconnect your Xero integration if you're experiencing issues with your connection. Reconnecting clears the previous authorisation in Xero and establishes a fresh connection.

If your Xero integration is working correctly, you don't need to reconnect. Only follow these steps if you're experiencing integration problems.

Step 1: Disconnect Unleashed from Xero

  1. Log in to Xero.

  2. Click your organisation name, then click Settings.

  3. Go to Connected Apps.

  4. Click Manage App Connection.

  5. Click Disconnect next to Unleashed Software.

Step 2: Reconnect Xero in Unleashed

  1. In Unleashed, go to Integrations, then click Integration Store.

  2. Select Xero.

  3. Turn on the Reconnect toggle.

  4. Sign in to Xero and select your organisation when prompted.

Reconnecting automatically triggers two imports from Xero into Unleashed:

  • Import currencies. If valid exchange rates are set up in both Xero and Unleashed, the available currencies are added to Unleashed.

  • Import account codes. Your account codes from Xero are imported into Unleashed.

Step 3: Check and re-export transactions

After reconnecting, verify that your transactions have exported correctly.

  1. In Unleashed, go to Integrations > Integration Store > Xero, then click Export Data.

  2. Select the relevant date range for your transactions.

  3. Review each section:

    1. If the View column shows Xero, the transaction has been exported successfully.

    2. If not, click Export to send the transaction to Xero.


Troubleshoot common issues

Authentication or session timeout errors

  1. Log out of both Unleashed and Xero.

  2. Clear your browser cache and cookies.

  3. Log back in to Unleashed and initiate the Xero connection again.

Greyed-out company name in Xero

  1. Remove the old Unleashed connection from Connected Apps in Xero.

  2. In Unleashed, go to Integration Store > Xero and turn on the Reconnect toggle.

  3. Sign in to Xero and select your organisation.

  1. Disconnect Unleashed from Xero using the steps above.

  2. In Unleashed, go to Integration Store > Xero.

  3. Select Reconnect and follow the prompts to sign in to Xero.

"Not connected to Xero" error

  1. Disconnect Unleashed from Xero.

  2. Reconnect the Xero integration in Unleashed.

  3. Verify that queued transactions export successfully from the Xero export queue.

Do I need to disconnect and reconnect if there are no issues?

No, if the integration is functioning correctly, there is no need to disconnect and reconnect, even if an error message is displayed. Only perform this action if you experience integration problems.

What if Unleashed says Xero is already connected but the integration appears disconnected?

Remove the Unleashed organization from Xero first, then return to Unleashed and choose Reconnect or Re-install to re-establish the connection.

How do I refresh the integration if reconnection fails?
