Every Stock Adjustment requires an "Adjustment Reason" to be allocated so that it can be completed. This system helps with reporting and auditing your business's stock movements, allowing you to answer questions like "How much damaged stock did I write off this year?" or "What was the total value of promotional stock given away?"
The Adjustment Reasons feature allows you to customize the reasons available to select per Stock Adjustment. Common examples include reasons like 'spillage', 'damaged goods', 'promotion', 'theft', or 'expired stock'. Once saved, these reasons appear in a dropdown menu when creating any Stock Adjustment.

Manage Adjustment Reasons
Setting up your Adjustment Reasons is a one-time configuration that will streamline your stock management process. You can add as many reasons as your business requires, and they'll be available immediately. The flexibility to edit or remove reasons means you can adapt your setup as your business evolves.
Add an Adjustment Reason
To create a new Adjustment Reason:
Go to Settings > System > Adjustment Reasons.
In the "Adjustment Reason" field, enter a unique name for the new reason.
Click Add.
The new Adjustment Reason will be added to the Adjustment Reason list on the page and will be available to select in new or Parked status Stock Adjustments.
Edit an Adjustment Reason
Adjustment Reasons can be edited as your business needs change:
Go to Settings > System > Adjustment Reasons.
Click on the Adjustment Reason's row.
Edit the reason as required.
Click away from the Adjustment Reason.
When you edit an Adjustment Reason's name, the change applies retroactively to all Stock Adjustments that previously used that reason. This ensures consistency across your historical data.
Delete an Adjustment Reason
If an Adjustment Reason has not been used and is no longer needed, it can be deleted:
Go to Settings > System > Adjustment Reasons.
Click on the bin icon along the Adjustment Reason's row.
If you don't see a bin icon next to an Adjustment Reason, it means that reason is currently being used by existing Stock Adjustments and cannot be deleted. If the Stock Adjustment is in a Parked status, you'll need to change the Stock Adjustments to use a different reason before deletion becomes possible. Adjustment Reasons in Stock Adjustments in Completed or Deleted status cannot be changed.
