Manage Orders with Auto-Assembled products

Ensure smooth order processing, avoid stock allocation issues, and handle partial shipments effectively with automated production.

Written by Heather

Auto-assemblies are created automatically when you add an auto-assembled product to a Sales Order. The system generates the assembly for the full ordered quantity. If you lack sufficient components to complete the full assembly, you can adjust the quantity to match what you can build now and create additional assemblies later when components are available.

Streamline order processing

To prevent stock allocation issues and streamline order processing, consider the following approaches:

Complete linked Auto-Assemblies when dispatching

Complete the linked auto-assemblies just before raising and dispatching the shipment for the specific order. This ensures that the assembled stock is not left sitting in inventory, where it could be allocated to other orders.

Leverage System Automation

Avoid manually completing auto-assemblies. Instead, complete the Sales Order as a whole. Unleashed will automatically complete any linked parked assemblies, dispatch the stock, and close the order in one step.

Handling Partial Shipments and Backorders

If you cannot complete all assemblies due to insufficient components, you can still ship available items by following these steps:

  1. On the Sales Order, use the Allocate button to ensure items are not locked by allocation.

  2. From the Order dropdown, select Create Shipment.

  3. During shipment creation, select only the line items that are in stock or already assembled. Proceed to create the shipment for these items.

For scenarios involving partial assembly and shipment:

  1. Use a split-line workflow on the Sales Order:

    1. Line 1: Quantity you can assemble and ship now.

    2. Line 2: Remaining quantity to be backordered.

  2. Create and complete the shipment for Line 1 first.

  3. Once components are available, complete the assembly for the remaining quantity and create the shipment for Line 2.

Managing Stock Allocation and Auto-Assemblies

To avoid shipment issues caused by stock allocation, do not leave auto-assembled stock sitting in inventory. Either complete the assembly and shipment immediately, or rely on system automation to handle the process in one step.

By following these best practices, you can efficiently manage orders with auto-assembled products, minimize errors, and ensure timely shipments.
