BI Custom Dashboards

Use BI's data to create custom dashboards for your front page of Unleashed!

Written by Heather

Custom Dashboards allow you to create multiple custom layouts from an array of widgets covering different contexts of your business, giving you your own overview of how your business is performing. You can also create a custom layout that compares the same widgets multiple times, each time with different filters applied.

Custom Dashboards operate slightly differently from BI Foundation or BI Vision, where you select a date range and filter dimensions on a β€˜page’ level. While the non-editable Unleashed Default dashboard 'Company Overview' has a page-level date range selection, custom dashboards has filter criteria applied on a per-widget basis. This will mean you can compare side-by-side insights, but will need to configure widgets in more detail, one by one.

Prerequisites

To create layouts with Custom Dashboards, users must either be a Superuser or have BI Vision and BI Foundation permissions enabled for their role.

Customizable Dashboards

Custom Dashboard controls

To create, view and manage your user's Custom Dashboard, select Dashboard in Unleashed's main menu.

Use the dashboard selector displayed in the top-right corner of the Dashboard page to switch between the pre-made and existing custom dashboards.

Five pre-made dashboards are available to all users, but cannot be edited:

  • Company Overview (default)

  • KPI Metrics

  • Production Status

  • Purchasing Management

  • Sales Progress

Only the Company Overview can be made the default dashboard when a custom dashboard isn't selected as the default.

Click on the calendar icon next to the dashboard selector to filter the dashboard by a specific time period, where the data is populated by transaction Completed Dates that fall into the selected time period:

  • Month to date (default)

  • Quarter to date

  • Year to date

  • Last month

  • Last quarter

  • Last year

  • Custom Range

Click on 'Disable Override' to revert the time period filter to the default; month to date.

Create a Custom Dashboard

Click on '+ Custom Dashboard' to create a new custom layout for your dashboard view.

The following customising control options will be available while creating or editing a Custom Dashboard layout:

  • Share: Use the toggle to decide whether your layout can be shared with all users of the same Unleashed account.

  • Add Widget: Click the plus icon to open the Add Widget display, which you'll use to add new widgets to your layout.

  • Clear Layout: Click on the eraser icon to remove all widgets from the current layout.

  • Reset Layout: Click on the circular arrow icon to revert the layout to it's previously saved state.

  • Dashboard Name: Provide a unique name for the new custom layout, this is a required field.

  • Save: Click Save to create a new layout or apply changes to an existing layout, and exit editing mode.

Manage Custom Dashboards

Whilst the "Unleashed Default" layout cannot be edited, if a custom layout's selected in the Layout dropdown menu, two further control options will be displayed alongside the layout's name:

  • Edit dashboard: Click on the pencil icon to make adjustments to the current layout.

  • Set default: Save the current layout as the default view whenever you navigate to the Dashboard page.

Custom Dashboard Widgets

While creating a new layout or editing an existing one, you can add, remove, edit, clone, adjust and move each widget independently, to ensure it's displaying the right results in the optimal format.

To add a new widget, click on the Add Widget (plus) icon in the top right corner of the layout editor and use the Add Widget window's dynamic search fields to find the widget data you want to add:

  • Context: Choose either Sales, Customers, Inventory, Production, Purchases or AIM.

  • Measure: Use the dropdown menu so select a measure, based on the context selected.

  • Type: Use the dropdown menu to select how the widget's data will be displayed; Kpi, Chart or Grid, depending on the measure selected. If Chart is selected, you can add a further variable filter, based on the measure selected.

  • Chart Type: When applicable, choose to display the widget's data in either a horizontal bar chart, vertical bar chart or pie chart.

πŸ“Œ Note: Not all widget types have all controls available to them. Some controls will appear dynamically depending on what is applicable.

Once the Add Widget filters have been set a preview of the widget data will be displayed, and the following additional options will be available to apply:

  • Click on Add under Filters to apply additional variable filtering for the widget.

  • Click on the pencil icon to customise the widget's title.

  • When available, set a custom date range for the widget.

Click on Add to Dashboard to add the widget to your Custom Dashboard layout, with the selected filters applied. Or click Discard in the Add Widget window to avoid adding the widget to your layout.

If you're not sure what widget data you want to add to your custom layout, click on Surprise Me to generate a random widget and add it to your layout.

Manage Widgets

Once a widget's been added to your custom dashboard layout, use the icons available in each widget's tile to further customise it's view:

  • Hover over the i icon for a description of the widget data.

  • Click on the overlapping squares icon to clone the widget.

  • Click on the pencil icon to edit the widget's context, measure, type and date range.

  • Click on the x icon to remove the widget from the layout.

  • Click and drag the two-sided triangle icon in the bottom right corner of the tile to adjust the widget's size.

  • Drag and drop the widget's tile to change it's placement in the layout.
