Packing Slips and Picklists play essential roles in the Sales Order process. Each document serves distinct purposes, and knowing when and how to use them can significantly enhance operational efficiency.
What are Packing Slips and Picklists?
Packing Slip: This document is primarily utilized by the warehouse team to gather and pack items for delivery. It is most effective in larger warehouses or where there are dedicated packing teams. Importantly, the Packing Slip includes the components required for assembly items, aiding in shipment preparation.
Picklist: The Picklist identifies which items need to be physically picked for the dispatch of an Order's Shipment, but does not include detailed component breakdowns for assemblies.
When to use Packing Slips and Picklists
Use Packing Slips when:
You need to show assembly components for picking and packing.
Creating customer-facing shipping documentation.
You need Never Diminishing Products (NDPs) to appear on the document
Use Picklists when:
You're performing warehouse picking operations.
You want a simplified view of items without assembly breakdowns.
You're managing picking routes or zones in your warehouse.
πNote: NDPs are not included on Picklists as they cannot be added to shipment transactions.
