Understanding the limitation
Unleashed supports serial number tracking for products that require individual unit identification, such as electronics, high-value items, or equipment. When a product is marked as serialized in Unleashed, each unit must have a unique serial number recorded during receiving and picking operations.
Currently, the Unleashed Warehouse Management App does not support serial number entry or tracking. This creates challenges when working with serialized products in both receiving and fulfilment workflows.
Impact on goods receipt
When receiving serialized products, you will encounter errors that prevent you from completing the receipt in the Unleashed Warehouse Management App.
Why this happens
Serial number entry is a compulsory field in Unleashed for products marked as serialized. Since the app does not currently support serial number entry, you cannot fulfil this requirement during the goods receipt process.
What to avoid
Attempting to receive serialized products through the Unleashed Warehouse Management App. The receipt will fail because you cannot enter the required serial numbers.
Starting a goods receipt for a Purchase Order that contains serialized products, as you will not be able to complete it.
Impact on picking and dispatch
When picking serialized products, the app allows you to complete the pick without errors. However, this creates an inventory tracking issue that affects order completion in Unleashed.
Why this matters
The Unleashed Warehouse Management App does not track which specific serial numbers were picked for an order. When you set the order status to "Dispatched" in the app, this information is missing, so the sales order in Unleashed cannot be automatically marked as "Completed".
What happens next
After dispatching an order with serialized products:
The order status updates to "Dispatched" in the Unleashed Warehouse Management App.
The sales order in Unleashed does not automatically update to "Completed" because serial numbers were not recorded.
You must manually complete the order in Unleashed and assign serial numbers to the shipment.
WARNING: When you manually complete the sales order in Unleashed, you must record which serial numbers were actually picked and shipped. Since the app does not track serial numbers, there is no automatic record of which specific units left the warehouse. Without proper documentation during picking, you risk assigning incorrect serial numbers in Unleashed, which compromises inventory traceability.

For goods receipt
Receive all serialized products directly in Unleashed rather than through the Unleashed Warehouse Management App.

Process picks and dispatch for orders containing serialized products entirely in Unleashed.
Record serial numbers during the fulfillment process.
